Vertical barriers

It ensures the impermeability of the structure and the complete confinement of contaminants within the sealed area.

Vertical barriers are structures designed to contain, block or direct the flow of liquids, gases, particles or pollutants in the soil. Their main function is to prevent the undesired spread of substances and to safeguard sensitive areas such as drinking water sources, sensitive ecosystems or industrial facilities.

Vertical barriers can also be used in construction to prevent collapse in excavations, prevent water infiltration in basements and other subway structures.

The ATARSEAL system, developed by Atarfil, represents a vertical barrier solution composed of HDPE geomembrane panels that are connected by joining profiles specially manufactured with the same material. The use of a hydroexpansive thread allows to seal the profile joints effectively. In addition, the trench on both sides of the screen is filled with a mixture that may include bentonite, bentonite-cement or bentonite-soil-cement, which ensures containment between the confined area and the surrounding perimeter.

Our vertical barrier system ensures impermeability of the structure and complete confinement of contaminants within the sealed area. This provides a robust solution for the management of harmful substances and contributes to the protection of the surrounding environment.
